app.. and gave it a good review.. but, there is one thing for certain.. it's got a long way to go.

Nothing thus far gives you the mixing power that touchDJ does. The other app requires your BPM not only be close, but PERFECT as it uses BPM to determin the length of it's loops.. in touchDJ BPM is more of a bonus than a requirement, and you can set your loops how you like. It's import utility is maybe slightly better at BPM detection.. but, when bpm detection fails with touch, you just have to fall back to your own beatmatching skills.. with the other app, it's a total fail you will not be able to set loops period.

The dev said he submitted 1.1 and is working on 1.2..

My only thing here.. i don't mind having 5 differnt DJ apps.. if they could just share a source directory.. we all need to complain about the close of the io.library and pressure apple to create a similar directory in the DCIM folder for music apps. If photo apps can, then music apps should.

I tried it as well, and I gotta say having automatic 4-32beat loops and 5 cue points is a miracle. I agree touchDJ still gives you more control, but the cue points and looping capabilities of cue.play.dj take it to a different level in terms of juggling songs in a live set. Also the loading screen is way better with ability to sort songs by name, artist, genre, bpm and listen to the track before selecting it- currently one can only preview a track in the crate setup screen of touchDJ afaik.

The only reason I mention these differences is because I don't believe they are special features of cue.play.dj and are moreso just general features in most professional dj programs that I would LOVE to see applied to the touchDJ user interface and style.

Just tried this app also, and was actually pretty impressed. Only problems I found are that it doesn't seem to save my cue points? Streaming via Wifi is a nice touch, but don't think you you can use the headphones as a monitor because there is a lag of about 3 seconds from the monitor to the stream. However, i'm told the developers are working on the streaming latency issues so perhaps on the next version we will have true live monitoring via the headphones!, something that so far touchdj seems to have ignored by passing the app off as a 'visual mixing' tool.

Both apps are great none the less and Touch DJ certainly has some advantages over Cue.Play.Dj such as scratching capabilities. Looking forward to the next release, will be an interesting battle between these two, but I think the killer will certainly be an app that allows live cueing via headphones and live streaming so that we can mix like a true dj. :D

Honestly - CPDJ's been a welcome bit of competition to TDJ. More cue points, more FX, the ability to order your library by track, artist or BPM... Even the monitoring switcher can excuse the app's paltry little crossfader.

If only Amidio could manage to try and stuff as many features into TouchDJ then they'd be onto a winner.

As things stands, it is starting to look like the price tags have been switched between the 2 competing apps.

Still, credit where credit is due - TDJ was here first, and it looks 10 times better than CPDJ.

I wonder, what with the imminent iPhone OS update - will we now be able to have a 4 deck set-up on our iPhone/iPod, with one DJ app running in the background while running another in the foreground ?

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=299

I posted some screenshot about horizontal layout, more effects and multiple cue points (see page 2). Let me know what do you think about it.

Cheers.

Out of the bag, this app blows touch dj out the window

1. I want to record my mix - it can be done
2. I want direct access to iTunes
3. I want loops and effects like cue play

4 I want this 6 weeks ago lol come on plzzzzz

I think that Cue.Play.DJ it will become a great app with the next update. I have both of them and based on my experience, I can compare both of them.

CUE.PLAY.DJ

Pro
Quantize function for perfect automatic loop creation (4,8,16,32), 5 cue points, better Effects, better equalizer. Master Output over wifi (not usable for mixing, because the wifi output has a 2 seconds delay at least)

Contro
Cue Play DJ has a very confusing layout, very user UNfriendly, slow responses while switch from one view to another (example from track view to mixer or effects view), Higher latency, no visual mixing, almost impossible to follow the waveform while playing. Very annoying track seek, unusable beat correction. No beat matching (but not necessary from my point of view). No Itunes library access.

What they promise (with the next release):
VIsual Mixing, Beat Maching, Better Waveform browsing, and ITUNES Library Access.

Suggestions (from my point of view):
All these sliding effects, graphics (a knock into eyes), reduce performance and usability. Keep it simple and point on performance and reducing latency.

TOUCH DJ

Pro
Best Visual Mixing ever (low frequency higlight on wveform for better beat match), very linear, clean and user friendly interface, a pleasure to play and keep on synch two tracks, easy mix even without pre-listening.Very low latency and fast response. Good enough track seek and speed adjustment.

Contro
No quantize function, only one cue point (which refers to the only one loop start and end point), bad 3 band equalizer (the effect placed near the volume pitch cuts the bass better). Pre-listen only works if splitting the stereo output into two mono output (which is not a solution at all). No Itunes Library Access.

What they promise (with the next release):
NOTHING

Suggestions (from my point of view):
The interface is the best I have never seen for a User interaction, based on my suggestions you can have an horizontal layout which will give you more space for adding cues, loops, effects, filters and so on. Here are some screenshot made by me with some examples of Horizontal layout, multiple cue points, more effects.

http://amidio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=299

Be focused on improving the 3 Band equalizer, and ITUNES LIBRARY ACCESS.

If I forgot something, I will implement this list later.

Cheers,

Thanks for that suggestion of the horizontal layout, very nicely done! I've been thinking of it myself. Hopefully will implement it soon.
