About ioLibrary
About ioLibrary
The standard for sharing, exchanging and syncing audio data between iPhone music apps

Current ioLibrary features
We have a fully working, legal and proven solution that allows data sharing between the apps, overcoming Apple's restrictions, not using any prohibited methods (staying within legal iPhone SDK). You can take a look at any Amidio app to see how it's currently done. The solution includes:
- every app has access to two folders: Local Session (where the app keeps its own recordings and files) and ioLibrary (the globally shared folder)
- a module called "File Manager" allows the user to browse through both folders, play/rename audio files, delete files, export files from Local Session to ioLibrary
- if your app supports custom sample loading, then there's an interface for loading custom .wav files from ioLibrary
- we also offer a ready and working Wi-Fi server solution for transferring files to/from desktop PC, with audio previewing from the browser
- the Wi-Fi browser-based server allows simultaneous uploading of many samples at once by uploading a .zip file which contains everything
Implementation in your app
Contact us with the details of your app, and we will prepare a custom version of the SDK for you shortly. It is very easy, lightweight, and your app can get ioLibrary functionality within just a couple of hours!
- Be sure you have working .wav export and/or import functionality inside your app.
- If you encounter any difficulties with this - again, contact us, we will help!
Future plans
We are now finishing work on a new part of ioLibrary that will allow synced play between different apps on different devices via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth (unified midi/non-midi clock)
- Later this can be expanded to full MIDI sync between apps.

Latest ioLibrary News
IMPORTANT NOTICE (21 January 2010): Due to Apple's request ("apps are not allowed to look out of their container"), we had to temporarily remove the ioLibrary exchange functionality from all our apps (and Intua removed it from Beatmaker as well). We are sorry to say that ioLibrary is closed now until we find a good solution which will be OK for Apple.

The initial ioLibrary API package is ready and from now on, any developer of the iPhone music apps can participate in the ioLibrary program.
